Central Coast Chapter NRHS Banquet
We will again present our much-enjoyed annual Banquet for Central Coast NRHS on Saturday August 22 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Santa Clara Caltrain Depot.
Dinner will be catered by Doña Marias and will feature a buffet of Mexican cuisine of such favorites as enchiladas, flautas, tacos along with salad, chips, salsa, and drinks.
Plan on attending an evening with other Central Coast members for good conversation, a tasty meal, an interesting program, and a raffle of railroad books or memorabilia.
The banquet price will again be only $25.00 for this special evening!
Social time will begin at 5:00 pm and dinner will start at 6:00 pm. The Program will begin as dinner concludes.
The program will be presented by Evan Werkema. Evan is skilled at researching various archives to present interesting historical details of Western Railroading. Evan has presented and helped with many interesting Western railroading subjects at both Central Coast NRHS and Winterail. It promises to be an interesting program that he is putting together.

Sign-ups are now available for this Tour of the BART/VTA Big Dig!
On Wednesday, August 5, BART/VTA will provide a private tour for Central Coast Chapter NRHS members and their guests of their new "Big Dig" construction site where they are beginning their tunnel for the BART extension to San Jose and Santa Clara.
Advance sign-ups will be required and there are only 20 spots available.
The tour will start at 10:00 AM and will last approximately 90 minutes. In order to cover the Club's incidental costs there will be a $10 fee, payable on the day of the event.
Sign-ups are required by Sunday, July 12.
BART/VTA in Santa Clara County is beginning their initial construction of the Underground tunnel that will connect the Santa Clara California above ground end station and yard to the tunnel through Downtown San Jose and ultimately connect with the above ground San Jose Berryessa station. The tunnel boring machine will begin at this site. It is at or near the location of the ex-Southern Pacific Newhall yard and tower in San Jose and Santa Clara which is now owned by Santa Clara County VTA.
